The city of Worcester has a rich history of culture, architecture and events of international importance and is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of central England.

There is a wealth of fascinating, beautiful and exciting places to visit, from the majestic cathedral on the banks of the Severn to Royal Worcester Porcelain's Museum and Visitor Centre and the remarkable medieval interiors of the city centre's Greyfriars. Just beyond the city are more delightful places, from the glorious hills and natural springs at Malvern to Elgar's Birthplace Museum, the magnificent landscapes at Croome Park and the romantic ruin of Witley Court.

The compact city centre is ideal for strolling, sightseeing and shopping. There is a great mixture of ancient buildings, modern shopping, street cafes and riverside walks guaranteed to reward you with a relaxing and entertaining visit.

The city has an extensive range of entertainment including two multi screen cinema complexes, the Swan Theatre and an assortment of modern and traditional pubs, wine bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

The city's all-pedestrian High Street features the large stores and smaller, unique local shops. There are delightful shopping malls with clusters of small shops such as Reindeer Court and Hopmarket Yard for specialist shopping and larger, modern malls such as CrownGate and Cathedral Plaza. For really distinctive and unusual shopping, there is ancient Friar Street with its charming gift and fashion shops and art galleries. In the main shopping areas there is a wide selection of venues for refreshment from charming tea-rooms to contemporary Italian-style coffee shops.

Those interested in sports will find one of the most picturesque county cricket grounds in the country next to the river Severn. You can watch Worcester Warriors at six ways Rugby Club, the rowing on the river Severn or the racing at the famous race course at Pitchcroft. There are plenty of fine parks with tennis courts and bowling greens, sports centers, golf clubs and swimming pools and superb hill top walks in the close by Malvern Hills.

Worcester is easily accessible by road, rail or air. There is instant access to the M5 at junctions 6 or 7 taking you to Birmingham 27 miles to the North and Bristol 63 miles to the south. There is easy commuting to Oxford 57 miles, Cheltenham 25 miles and Stratford-upon-Avon 26 miles. The direct train link to Paddington, London takes about 2 ΒΌ hours and to Birmingham New Street 45 minutes. Birmingham international airport is about 45 minutes by car (via the M5 and M42) and London Heathrow airport about 2 hours (via the M5, M42 or M4 and M25 motorways).
